My first blog and a warm welcome to Up and Down Designs
Hello and welcome to our blog page. We have spent so much time building, advertising and promoting our business that we decided to post a blog on our website so we can interact with all of you and inform you of our on goings. We also wanted all our readers and clients to have the chance to have your say by leaving any comments or feedback, so we added a guestbook.
Since the summer of 2009 we have literally started from scratch. However in this short space of time since then, we have come up with a name for the company, a logo and built the website. Originally we were going to be called KG Designs (after Karl Goldson) but that name was taken too many times so we had to come up with something more original and unique. Something that would separate us from everyone else. Then along came Up and Down Designs. The name doesn’t originate from anything connected to us, it was purely a name that was catchy and had a ring to it. Once we had settled on the name, the inevitable design of the company logo was next. Again with so many random ideas being plucked from the sky, numerous attempts and countless adjustments – we have what you see today. Whilst this was all going on, the website was in construction and being developed and before you know it we have ourselves a foundation to work on. From there on we put in place a colour theme which would go on to be our company colours (pink, black and white). Credit where credits due, Carl is one hell of a creative designer and most of the ideas are from Carl himself, I just had to give the seal of approval – although I am proud of my post box idea! I can’t remember how many changes were made but once the layout was finished what we had was a simple and stylish website, yet there was something missing! What we needed was to add a bit more flair so the whole layout was changed and a flash video was created. The original idea was to have it half way down the page but after observing it in more detail, the video had finished playing by the time you scrolled down the page and we didn’t want it repeating too many times. So it was moved higher up to where you see it today. Soon enough everything began to take shape once again and to make it more attractive, appealing and more interactive, thumbnails were implemented rather than us waffling on about services we offer and what we can do. Therefore links to our profiles on Facebook and Twitter were soon added. On the back of trying to plug Up and Down on social networking sites, we also opted for directories too. (especially with SEO seemingly so difficult to crack for a new business) But nevertheless we will achieve what we set out to do, and that is to become East Anglia’s premier no.1 design company
I’m coming to the end of my first blog and I hope I haven’t bored you too much but before I do, on behalf of Carl and Up and Down Designs, I want to dedicate this first blog and thank Nigel Coverdale, who owns and runs NF Coverdale Ltd, for his financial backing and without him this may not have been possible.
Well it leaves me to say thank you to you all for reading and check back again soon for further updates.
Take Care,
Barry
